Why is my 84 5th ave 8 cyl hesitating when I push on the gas, usually off the line sometimes mid range?

I did a tune up the other day and changed the plugs, wires, cap, rotor and fuel filter. I crossed the wires by accident, test drove it around the block and then corrected the problem. Now when I drive I push the gas and it feels like it wants to go and it hesitates like its sputtering and then goes. I drove the car 300 miles before I did the tune up and other than idling rough it gave me no problems. It was a granny car literally, its an 84 with 85000 origional miles on it. Am I looking at sinking a ton of money or do I have a decent ride?
