Can i make jerky with my dehydrator?

i bought a nesco food dehydrator for $30 of kijiji the other day and have been cooking fruit so far. i want to cook jerky but i am not sure if i need to make it at a certain temperature or not and i cannot change the temperature of the dehydrator. would it be safe to make jerky?
